Scenario
Camping Cymru is a small, family run campsite located in the beautiful rural countryside. The campsite provides pitches for customers who either bring tents, touring caravans or motorhomes. Due to its popularity, the campsite has recently expanded as a result of the purchase of some additional land adjacent to the campsite and this has allowed the owners to double the number of available pitches.
The campsite is owned by Megan Jones who has managed the site for the last 2 years after acquiring it from the previous owners who had run the site for over 20 years. Before the purchase of the additional land, Camping Cymru had 21 pitches. The number of pitches has now doubled to 42, all of which have electricity. The size of each pitch varies from between 80 sq m and 150 sq m. The toilet and shower facilities have been upgraded to accommodate the extra customers that these extra pitches would generate.
The campsite is open from 1st May until 31st August. Megan currently charges £15.50 per pitch per night for bookings in May and June and charges £21.50 per pitch per night in July and August. This is a flat rate for the pitch, regardless of its size or the number of occupants.
Megan is very pleased with her new look campsite, but is concerned about how she is going to manage the bookings now that the number of pitches has doubled. Campers are able to book any number of nights and can arrive and leave on any day.
At present, Megan does not make use of ICT to record her bookings, but in light of the number of pitches that she now has, she has decided to introduce a system to allow her to process and manage her bookings more efficiently.
